In which the kids have a YouTube obsession
I can't get my head around it at all, but I guess they'd say the same about my viewing habits... I enjoy period dramas, history and nature documentaries, murder mysteries and gardening programmes. If I do watch YouTube, it normally involves a makeup tutorial or movie outtakes. I also love videos of babies doing cute things and newborn puppies. There's a confession for you! The kids love a good old YouTube video. We have a smart TV, with the YouTube app built in and they like

In which I make it up the hill!
An odd sounding achievement, but it's something I've been trying to conquer for a couple of months now... This hill has been my nemesis for a couple of months. I have been running for about three years in total, but up until recently, I'd only been making it out about twice a week. I was struggling to find the time between school runs, work and keeping on top of everything at home. Since we've been in lockdown and I've been furloughed, I've had a lot more time to get out and

In which I reveal my most embarrassing moment
Or maybe it's really my Daughter's most embarrassing moment. Although, it has provided us with a brilliant story for her Dad to retell during his 'Father of the Bride' speech... When the Daughter was just two years old, her Aunt and Uncle got married. I was to be Bridesmaid, the Husband Best Man and the Daughter a Flower Girl. The day before the Wedding, we headed over to our local Church for a rehearsal. The Church dates back to the 13th Century and has been designated a Gra

In which the Husband has a death wish
For some reason, the Husband thinks it's funny to wind me up when I have PMT. It's not remotely amusing and one of these days, he's going to understand why! Yes, that sounds like a bit of a threat and, to be honest, it is! He doesn't seem to grasp the danger that he's in and I feel it's my duty to help him understand! I am one of those women who suffers from horrendous Pre-Menstrual Tension. Honestly, it's frightening - I even scare myself! I have absolutely no control over i

In which we go on a Tour of The Valleys
As I approach 35, I try to welcome two new companions into my life that will be a part of me (and my face) forever... The sun is shining gloriously as we walk through the lush valley. All is peaceful apart from the sound of birds singing gayly overhead, gliding easily with the gentle breeze that does not touch us in the depths of the protected lowlands. A new mother watches contentedly over her little lambs, wobbly, as they take their first steps to drink warm milk from her t

In which I introduce myself
The idea behind the Blog, how it came about and who the hell am I? Welcome to Witty Written Word. An unfiltered, imperfect, but truthful and humourous look at modern life for your average person. One who plods through each day, doing the best they can. Making mistakes and laughing at themselves. One who isn't living the dream, but dreams anyway. One who doesn't take home a huge salary, but over-spends anyway. One who imagines themselves to be sophisticated and organised, but
